Class Description
Syllabus

Computer Lab  is designed for students who want to learn more about the features of popular programs.  Students will learn basic Word Processing (Microsoft Word 2007), Spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel 2007), Desktop Publishing (Microsoft Publisher 2007), Presentation Software (Microsoft PowerPoint 2007), Graphics (Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9) and Operating System (Windows) features.  They will also learn the basics of the digital and video camera and scanner.  Use of the Internet, Computer Ethics and developing independence will be emphasized.

  • Perform power up and power down procedures
  • Name, save and retrieve files to and from various locations
  • Create backup files
  • Print documents using various print options
  • Proofread to produce error-free documents
  • Care for storage media and computer
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of ethical considerations, computer crimes, and licensing agreements
  • Troubleshoot a word processing program by obtaining assistance from help screens and printed materials
  • Select a network printer

The Travel Through Time Brochure project is a desktop publishing project to help you learn the fundamentals of the Microsoft Publisher software. As we move through the tools of Publisher, you and your partner will work for the Travel Through Time travel agency and create a fun travel brochure to another time chosen from the list provided.
